Homework #2:
1. Write four examples of 4-beat patterns including quarter notes and eighth notes in each example.
Quiz #1:
2. quiz on reading/counting rhythms: quarter notes, eighth notes, dotted quarter note, time signature, counting syllables (du, du de, du da di)
Quiz #2:
4. Quiz on note values (quarter, eighth, dotted quarter, half, dotted half, quarter rest, dotted quarter rest) and writing out rhythmic patterns
Project #1:
5. Musical Composition Project: In groups of 4-6 you will compose music for the musical pipes. Your group will write 12 measures of music in 2/4 time. You are allowed to use the notes F, G, A, B, and C in your composition. You are to use the rhythms we know in 2/4 time. One student will be responsible for one note. You will write your composition, practice, and perform for the class. You will be graded on group work, accuracy of your musical notation, practicing, and your performance.

5. Quiz on musical notation and musical notation history. You will identify notes on the staff and historical facts about the beginning of musical notation.
